Sunday, December 10, 1972, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Cityan Recalls Rescue; Prevents Pool Tragedy
“Luckily for Mark Corely, Randy Taylor of Sapulpa has a good memory. It was Taylor’s recollection of life saving techniques he witnessed two years ago that saved Corley’s life on Nov. 30 of this year at the Central State University field house pool in Edmond. Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor, 819 W Cleveland, noticed someone on the bottom of the pool during sports night at the Broncho Field House. ‘I didn’t realize that Corely was in trouble until I took a second look and I saw blood coming from his mouth,’ explained Taylor, who is a freshman…The next thing Taylor knew, he had Corely to the side of the pool…Taylor pulled Corely from the pool and applied mouth to mouth resuscitation, a technique he observed two years ago in a drowning rescue attempt…Central State Coach Bobby Hunt arrived at the scene and continued the lifesaving procedure on the Moore, Okla., junior…With no previous life saving training, Taylor was able to save Corely’s life…”
