Wednesday, September 7, 1910, Sapulpa Evening Light: Interurban in Six Months
“‘The Interurban between Sapulpa and Tulsa will be in operation within six months,’ said A.A. Small, President of the Oklahoma Union Traction Company. ‘We have practically secured the entire right of way with the exception of a small tract near Sapulpa. The route has already been laid out and active operations will begin in a few days. The construction work will begin at this end.’ President Small was in Sapulpa yesterday…This company has just recently increased the capital stock from $100,000 to $400,000 and are now prepared to go right ahead with the work. An interurban between Tulsa and Sapulpa has been talked of for many years and at last it looks as though it was a reality.”
Thursday, September 7, 1939, Sapulpa Herald: Back to School Kids’ Movie at State Saturday
“The new State Theater on Dewey Avenue will stage a ‘back to school’ movie Saturday morning for Sapulpa youngsters. The only admission fee is a book that can be used in the classes of the city, tablet, pencil, rules, and other new school supplies. The movie will be shown at 10 o’clock Jimmie Zartaludes, manager stated. The books and school supplies will be distributed to the needy youngsters in the various schools of the city.”
Wednesday, September 7, 1966, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Official Sapulpa Flag Approved
“Sapulpa has an official city flag, by virtue of the action of the City Commission Tuesday night. The council formally adopted the flag designed by Police Officer O.B. Knight as the official emblem of the city. The Commission immediately ordered three of the flags for display. Knight’s suggestion for a city flag was judged best of over three dozen entries submitted in a contest sponsored by the Sapulpa Herald…”
Wednesday, September 7, 1994, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Sapulpa Leads State in ACT Scores
“ACT scores by Sapulpa High School students are higher than those for the rest of the state and are up from the previous three years. Members of the Sapulpa School Board discussed ACT scores during Tuesday’s meeting. The 1994 scores are above the state level but below the national level. Sapulpa students’ 1994 scores came to a composite of 20.6, above the state level of 20.3. The local composite score was 20.1 in 1991 and 1993, dropping to 19.8 in 1992 from a score of 21.0 in 1990. The national level was 20.6 from 1990 to 1992, increasing to 20.7 in 1993 and 20.8 this year…”
