Tuesday, August 28, 1917, Sapulpa Herald: Better Things Promised by the Sapulpa Interurban

“New equipment and a new schedule by November 1st will be on behalf of the public. According to an announcement today by officials of the Sapulpa Electric Interurban Company, connecting this city and Tulsa, the first new sixty foot late model car will come gliding into this city from the oil metropolis about November 1, while at the same time a new car will leave here carrying passengers. Work on the company’s line is progressing rapidly and the tracks will be laid into this city and everything in readiness to begin the operation of their schedule within the next 60 days…No expense is being spared to make the right of way the best possible. Work of laying track, placing poles, and stringing wire is progressing rapidly towards this city.”

Monday, August 28, 1939, Sapulpa Herald: B-C Glass Plant Annual Outing Held Saturday

“In an afternoon of fun and frolic climaxed by an evening packed with entertainment, the Bartlett-Collins Glass Plant was host Saturday to some 600 members of its plant staff and their families at the Sapulpa Country Club. Dean Iliff was general chairman of the annual outing. Cash Mahpton was chairman of information and A.B. Coley was chairman of sports and planned a program that kept guests busy practically every moment during the event. The plant was closed at noon for the outing. The picnic event was started by golf at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Softball matches followed. Activities for youngsters was provided as well as for adult members of the staff. Barbecue was served with a delectable picnic dinner at 6 o’clock followed by a picture show on safety. Square dancing on an electrically lighted tennis court brought forth a lot of laughs. An orchestra made up of plant members supplied the music. Dancing continued late into the evening…”

Sunday, August 28, 1960, Sapulpa Daily Herald: New Sahoma Lanes to Open Doors at 1 PM Sunday

“The new $300,000 Sahoma Lanes Bowling Alley, located north of Sapulpa on Sand Springs Road, will open Sunday at 1PM. Guy Bolin, co-owner, said hours Sunday will be from 1 to 6 PM while the firm’s regular hours will be from 9 AM until midnight. Sahoma Lanes will hold its Grand Opening Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with free prizes and refreshments. The 12-lane alley features all new equipment and furnishings.”
