Thursday, August 23, 1928, County Democrat-News: Editors Will Gather Here

“Chamber of Commerce to be in charge of entertaining district newspapermen. Northeast district of Oklahoma Press Association with about 40 editors and publishers will be here tomorrow for their annual conference. They will be taken for a tour around the city by the local Chamber of Commerce, and the convention will be held in the Chamber of Commerce rooms…a round-table discussion of the problems, both weekly and daily papers, will be open. Entertainment then will be furnished by the local Chamber of Commerce.”

Tuesday, August 23, 1932, Sapulpa Herald: Jaycees Invited to Air Event in Bartlesville

“A special invitation was received here today from Bartlesville Junio Chamber of Commerce by members of the local organization to attend the transcontinental air derby tomorrow in that city. The Sapulpans will be the all-day guests of the Bartlesville group and will witness the landing of the 106 planes that are scheduled to begin landing there in the afternoon. A number of local club members plan to leave here early tomorrow to be present for the event. The invitation was wired here. Although the Sapulpa Chamber has adjourned for the month of August, the telegram was read by many members.”

Tuesday, August 23, 1966, Democrat News: Local College Courses Now Being Offered

“Enrollment is now being taken for beginning college English and psychology courses to be taught in Sapulpa this fall…Enrollment must be made by September 1 at the Oklahoma State University Extensions Center in the basement of the Sapulpa Post Office. Persons interested in taking either or both courses, should make a $20 deposit and fill out the proper enrollment cards made available at the Extion Center. A minimum of 20 persons per course must be had in order that the Oklahoma State University staff will conduct the course. Persons enrolled in only one course will attend class only one night a week. Persons taking two courses would attend class two nights per week…Since both courses are three-hour credit courses, it will be necessary for class periods to be three hours long…”

“Kimmie Dye, a 1999 Sapulpa High School graduate, moved to New York City in March after her national tour of Seussical the Musical ended. In the five months since she has been there, Dye has gone to 16 auditions and from those she received six call backs and three job offers. Last week, Dye starred in her first show in New York, ‘Closer Than Ever,’ a musical revue…Even after being in the Big Apple for five months, Dye said there are still some things that continue to surprise her…her favorite spots in the city and then there are places she tries to avoid. ‘I love Central Park’…but Times Square ‘it’s great when you come as a tourist but it is full of tourists.’…”
