It was over almost as soon as it began.

The meeting was scheduled for 9am on a Monday morning. Some folks speculated that it was done deliberately so as to curb the amount of attendees. Others said it was just the Board trying to handle the matter as quickly as possible.

The agenda was clear: This special meeting had been called in order to discuss the resignation of longtime Principal Bobby Alfred, and possible statement or action in regards to said resignation.

The Board Meeting was standing room only.

Concerned citizens began arriving by 8:30am, holding signs wearing black in support of “losing” Mr. Bobby Alfred, who had been with the district for 42 years. By the time the meeting started, it was standing room only in the Board Room in the Washington Administration Building. At 9:00am sharp, the School Board and Superintendent Burr, most of whom had trickled in unceremoniously, rose and along with the rest of the crowd, recited the pledge of allegiance.

Then someone unwittingly threw a wrench in the whole thing; Board member Wayne Richards, was unable to attend the meeting because he was out of town. His absence brought a serious question to the board: should they continue with him absent?

Ultimately, they decided to have the meeting at a later date. The time and date was supposed to be decided right then, but they left without settling on one.

The meeting was over in less than five minutes.

Later, Carla Cale, President of  United Sapulpa Educators said that the meeting may be held on Thursday, but that is yet to be confirmed. We’ve reached out to the administration for confirmation and will update as soon as we have confirmation.
