School board leaders recognized in January

(SPS) – Dedicated to public education, school board members across the state are committed to providing every opportunity possible to students in their community. January is School Board Recognition Month, providing local schools and communities the chance to honor Oklahoma’s more than 2,700 elected school board members for their dedication and service.

“Our school board members not only share their time but their vision and voice to shape the direction of public education in Oklahoma,” Sapulpa Public Schools Superintendent Rob Armstrong said. “We are proud of our school board members and the dedication they have to making our district the best it can be. Providing our community’s children with a solid education is the most important investment we can make.”

Sapulpa Public Schools is thankful for Wayne Richards, Larry Hoover, Melinda Ryan, Steve McCormick and Sarah Havenstrite, who serve on our local school board. We hope during School Board Recognition Month you will join us in celebrating the hard work of our elected board members.

Mr. Richards, Mr. Hoover, Mrs. Ryan, Mr. McCormick and Mrs. Havenstrite are an integral part of the Sapulpa Chieftains family. They help develop important school policies, manage an annual budget of $31 million, plan school bond initiatives to provide vital funding to our schools and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues. Our school board ensures our students have every opportunity possible to make them successful members of our community and society.

“School board members make critical decisions that affect our students and we deeply value their volunteer public service,” said Supt. Armstrong. “They preserve the core of our democracy – public education.”

School board members will be honored and recognized at January’s board meeting.
