The Oklahoma Pharmacist Association (OPhA) celebrated the outstanding efforts of individuals in the pharmacy profession during its Annual Convention and trade show at the Sheraton Hotel at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri this week (June 23-25). A total of 6 individuals were presented with the 2017 Excellence Awards. The Excellence Awards were awarded in six different categories: Spirit Award, NCPA Leadership Award, Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award, Excellence in Innovation Award, Cardinal Health Generation Rx Award of Excellence, and the prestigious Bowl of Hygeia Award.
The Excellence in Innovation Award was presented to Dr. Travis B. Wolff, Pharm.D. To be eligible to be nominated for this award, a pharmacist must have demonstrated a rare, unique, and/or innovative style of pharmacy practice resulting in improved patient care.
Dr. Wolff owns and operates Med-World Pharmacy in Sapulpa with his wife, Sunny. They are the only durable medical equipment provider in Sapulpa. Along with his day-to-day activities Wolff uses technology in the pharmacy to drive improvements to medication adherence by providing an online learning center that answers patient’s health questions online. He also writes a column for the local newspaper answering reader’s questions about their medications. Dr. Wolff also provides links on his website to MNT Health News, NIH Medicine, and WebMD Health. The website provides information on co-pay discounts with a link to rxhope and offers a synchronized refill program. Wolff has expanded his Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program by designing customized plans for smoking cessation, Parkinson’s support, diabetes education, weight loss, and asthma control. He has partnered and advertised his services through doctor’s offices, health departments, and hospitals to achieve patient’s medication goals.
Dr. Wolf received his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2011 from Southwestern Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. Dr. Wolff is a certified diabetes educator and has provided continuing education to other pharmacists on medication therapy management program development. He is a member of OPhA and NCPA.
Wolf and his wife have a two year old son and are members of the Church of the Resurrection. Wolff is a member of the Kiwanis Club in Sapulpa.
