In a conversation with Sapulpa Times on Facebook, Layson’s mother Missy Davis told us that her son has “fought for his life his entire life.”
“We were told when I was 8 months pregnant that he wouldn’t survive the birth,” she said.
When he was 17 months old, Layson survived drowning in the family pool. When he was 8 years old, he was badly burned while making hot chocolate. Missy says it never got the best of him. “he was so strong and determined. He faced it with jokes, smiles, and laughter,” she said.
When he was 15, Layson was in a car accident that crushed the seat where he sat. According to his mother, he managed to pull two others out of the back seat before realizing his arm was broken in two places. “He put himself before others and always made sure they were okay,” Missy said.
Layson Davis is originally from Sapulpa and had moved to Minnesota in October of 2023 “to better himself,” his mom said.
“He was a young, ‘old soul,’ and determined to do life the way he felt was right,” she said. “He was an amazing son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. He had an impact on everyone he ever met.”
Funeral services are pending. You can read Layson’s obituary here.
