Sapulpa schools to take traditional snow day for Thursday

Sapulpa Public Schools has announced that they’ll take a traditional snow day for Thursday, February 20th.

“Decisions have not been made for Friday, but we will keep you posted,” school officials said in a statement sent to parents.

Schools in the area have been closed since the beginning of the week after a winter storm brought less snow than anticipated, but sub-freezing temperatures.

While the snow quit falling late on Tuesday, roads were still hazardous on Wednesday morning as Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they’d responded to over 300 crashes by 10:00 am on Wednesday morning.

Temperatures won’t get above freezing until Friday afternoon if they do at all. Next week will be considerably warmer, with Monday seeing a possible high in the 70s.
