Sapulpa Schools confirms two students killed in fatal car wreck

Sapulpa Public Schools has confirmed in a statement sent to parents that two of the victims killed in Wednesday’s fatal car wreck near Sahoma Lake were students of the school district.

“We are heartbroken by this tragic event and will make every effort to help you and your child as you need,” school officials said in the statement, which was sent out via email and automated phone call on Thursday afternoon. “The loss of two students is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students.”

The students names have not yet been released by Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and they were not released by the school at the time of the statement.

Dear Sapulpa Public Schools families, 

It is with profound sadness that we inform you about a devastating loss to our school community. Wednesday afternoon, two Sapulpa Public Schools students died in a car accident in northwest Creek County.

We are awaiting additional information and working with authorities to assist in the investigation in any way we can. 

We are heartbroken by this tragic event and will make every effort to help you and your child as you need. The loss of two students is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students. 

As this tragedy occurred on the eve of Spring Break, we will post information on our district website that may be useful to you in helping your child. 

Our deepest condolences go out to the family members and loved ones of the students and others involved. We will continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
