Sapulpa Police are actively investigating a threat made via Snapchat against the school, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
Following the announcement that police were investigating, Sapulpa Public Schools made the decision cancel classes at the Middle School out of an abundance of caution, as stated in an email sent to Middle School parents.
“We take any threat seriously and have immediately involved law enforcement to investigate,” the email said.
“Due to the late hour, and out of an abundance of caution, classes will not be in session at Sapulpa Middle School on Monday, October 6, until law enforcement can complete its investigation and determine it is safe to return.”
The district reminded parents that the safety of students and staff is “our highest priority,” and that they will “work closely with law enforcement to ensure the continued safety of our school community.”
Neither the police nor the school district have elaborated on the details of the threat, only that it was made against the middle school.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious online is asked to report such activity to law enforcement.
