Sapulpa police have made an arrest in the homicide case from July 4th that involved a man found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Captain Mike Sole with the Sapulpa Police Department told Sapulpa Times that 25-year-old Bogi Maxwell, of Tulsa, was arrested on Monday after both Sapulpa and Tulsa Police Departments began tracking down leads following the homicide.

“We began processing evidence and tracking down leads, and were able, with the assistance of Tulsa Police Department’s homicide division, to rrest Maxwell without incident,” Sole said.

Sole said they were able to identify Maxwell as a person of interest after reviewing the phone records of the man who was killed, 34-year-old Brandon Smith.

So far, they have not uncovered a motive for the crime, and Sole said the investigation is still ongoing.

Maxwell has been charged with first-degree murder and other charges, and is currently in the Creek County Jail.
