Sapulpa police say they’ve identified the subject who made the threat against Sapulpa Middle School that caused the district to cancel classes out of an abundance of caution.
In a Facebook post updated at 8:00 AM Monday morning, police said they’d determined the threat was not credible, and “want to thank Snapchat and FBI for their assistance with this incident.”
Police also took the time to remind parents about the importance of monitoring their children’s phones, computers, laptops and social media.
“If you see a post of concern, immediately notify that social media platform under their reporting option,” the post stated, adding that “when you do so, they immediately capture all pertinent information and notify the FBI and local law enforcement. That makes for a faster response.”
The school’s decision to cancel classes has not changed, so Middle School students will report to class on Tuesday.
This incident comes less than two weeks after a shooting outside the high school led to increased security and concern for student safety.
