Sapulpa Police Chief Mike Reed awarded Valor, the most senior member of its K9 unit, a promotion to the rank of Captain on Wednesday afternoon, at the request of Major Deloache.
“Valor has shown a strong work ethic and determination in his career as a Sapulpa Police Officer and been a loyal companion to his handler,” Deloache said in a statement read aloud by Chief Reed.
Valor, who started with the department in 2017, began as a search and rescue dog with the state department before making a career change into Sapulpa’s police department.
Since his career change, he has been credited with numerous drug and narcotic finds, as well as approximately 15 criminal apprehensions.
