Sapulpa police are investigating after finding a man dead of a gunshot wound

Sapulpa Police are assisting OSBI in looking for suspects in what they say could be Sapulpa’s first homicide of 2024.

On Thursday, July 4th, Sapulpa police responded to a 911 call about a “man lying in their front yard, unresponsive,” at the 400 block of N. Johannes Street in Sapulpa.

Upon arrival, police found a man, deceased from a gunshot wound to the chest, Sapulpa Police Captain Mike Sole told Sapulpa Times.

The man has since been identified as 34-year-old Brandon Smith.

Captain Sole told Sapulpa Times that the scene is still “very fresh.” He says they are encouraging anyone in the community who might have more information about the incident to call the Sapulpa Police Department at 918-224-3862 or email crimestoppers@sapulpapd.gov

Smith was a music artist, who went by the name Brando West. Friends and family have been tagging his social media pages with messages of shock and at his sudden death.

A balloon release was planned for Friday at 6:00 pm.
