Sapulpa Parks hosted its third annual Kite Festival on Saturday April 1st at Hollier Park for kids of all ages.
Susan Bencke with Sapulpa Parks and Recreation said each year they have welcomed the Tulsa Wind Riders, local members of the American Kite Association, who have been gathering since the late 1980s to share their passion for flying kites.

More than 150 visitors were spread throughout the park. They assembled 72 kites by 3:30 and enjoyed the day of family fun.
Children received a free kite from Sapulpa Parks and Recreation, then made a ribbon wand or ribbon ring with Sapulpa Arts and Humanities Foundation and received a balloon creature thanks to Josh Rich with Rich Balloon Designs.
“It was wonderful seeing so many families at Hollier Park enjoying the perfect kite-flying weather on Saturday!” Bencke said. “Special thanks to the Tulsa Wind Riders. We love seeing their huge specially kites and sharing their passion with our community. What a way to kick off spring.”
