(SPS) — “The 2019-20 Teacher of the Year is…“
That was the line heard around the school district during the second week of December as the sites gathered students and staff to celebrate the announcement of their top educator.
The Teachers of the Year are determined by teachers at each school. After the nominations are made, staff votes for who they think should represent their school. The teacher with the most votes is declared the winner.
And, with that comes the announcement. These are the 2019-20 Teachers of the Year.

These teachers will create a portfolio that explains their teaching philosophy, lists career achievements, includes community involvement and letters of recommendation, and much more.
Those portfolios will be reviewed by a committee and interviews scheduled with each teacher. Following the interviews, the committee will determine the district’s Teacher of the Year.
The district Teacher of the Year will be announced during a banquet on Jan. 24, 2020.
