Sapulpa Middle School was evacuated shortly after 10:30am on Wednesday morning after a smoking electrical outlet led to the activation of a fire alarm in the school.
According to school officials, all students were able to safely exit the building without incident. “Our maintenance staff quickly addressed the issue and cut power to the affected outlet,” an email from Sapulpa Public Schools stated.
Students and teachers were seen outside the school while police and administrators investigated the situation. Doors to the Middle School were propped open and a floor blower was running to help dissipate the smell.

The students and staff were able to return to classes and finish the school day. “The safety and security of everyone in our school community, as always, is our top priority.” See the full statement from SPS below.
