A Sapulpa man was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after police say he assaulted a homeless woman with a stick.
Thirty-two-year-old Shane Freeman was arrested on June 5th after the victim met with police at Kelly Lane to report that Freeman had walked into her campsite, picked up a wooden stick, and “struck her on the left side of her face several times,” according to the arrest affidavit.
She told police that Freeman then shoved her down, and that when she got to her feet, she screamed at him to “knock it off,” and that Freeman spat in her face and told her, “I will kill you.” She says she grabbed her staff for protection and Freeman began walking away, saying “you’re dead,” according to the affidavit.
The victim says that this is the fourth time she’s been assaulted by Freeman, and that she believes he’ll kill her.
Officer Brandan Welsh was the responding officer and reported observing a golf ball-sized bruise over the victim’s left eyebrow, and a cut on her face just below her bottom lip “where she said one of her teeth poked through the skin.” The victim told police that Freeman had knocked out one of her teeth as well, which she showed to Officer Welsh.
Freeman is a convicted felon, having been charged and convicted numerous times of assault and battery.
