Just a hint of mist touched Barbara Napier’s eye as she hung up the phone Wednesday behind the counter at Happy Hollow Gun Range.
“Just a friend reminding me, wishing me well,” she said. “My husband passed away one year ago today.”
The staff and regulars — even those of us who only visited a few times a year — miss the deep, drill sergeant-like voice that marshaled safe operations over the speakers, and the knowledgeable man behind that voice, at the range nestled in a hollow among the steep, oak-covered hills 5 miles west of Sapulpa.
