Sapulpa Freshman celebrates at Tim Tebow’s “Night To Shine”

Friday, February 9th was probably an ordinary day for you or me. But for Dylan Henry, it was a night he’ll remember forever.

The 14-year-old Sapulpa freshman has Down Syndrome, but that didn’t stop him from gathering with about 600 others to celebrate prom as part of Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine, a special, global event that provides an exceptional prom experience for students with disabilities.

During the evening, which is held for students 14 years and older, churches from around the world came together to host for approximately 90,000 honored guests through the support of 175,000 volunteers.

Dylan attended the one in Tulsa, which was held at a hotel at 71st and Lewis, and sponsored by The Assembly in Broken Arrow. There were also events in Oklahoma City, as well as every state in the U.S. and overseas in places like Uganda and Ukraine—all being held the same night.

At Night to Shine, there’s no vote for a prom King or Queen. Instead, believing that every one of the students is a King or Queen, each one gets a crown or tiara.

Someone snapped this photo of Dylan and it got featured on Tim Tebow’s Instagram, as well as his Twitter and Facebook feeds. Hundreds of comments poured in, congratulating Dylan and thanking Tebow for his ministry.

Dylan’s mom says that though Dylan’s condition comes with some learning difficulties and motor skill deficits, that he is still a “very social kid.”

“And we truly rarely go anywhere that at least one person doesn’t recognize and talk to him,” she said.

Tim Tebow, who rose to fame as a college quarterback who was outspoken about his faith, has a number of ministries through The Tim Tebow Foundation. You can learn more about them at https://timtebowfoundation.org
