The Sapulpa animal shelter celebrated their two-year anniversary on July 18th. The current location was funded by a bond passed by the citizens in 2015. The previous location was a house turned shelter that had not only been outgrown, but was in desperate need of repairs after the many years occupied by the shelter. All animals, both stray and surrendered in the city limits of Sapulpa, are taken into the Sapulpa shelter.
These animals are given necessary medical treatments, vaccinations, and are either spayed or neutered to help prevent further overpopulation of the shelters. Ways you can help are fostering, volunteering, and donation of funds, food, beds, and toys for both dogs and cats. Dogs and cats aren’t the only species found to be in need of adoption, the Sapulpa shelter has taken in other species including rabbits, pigs, and even a peacock.
Help reduce the population of the shelter by spaying and neutering your pets, getting them microchipped, and not falling into the “seasonal” pets such as bunnies at Easter or puppies at Christmas. These animals often end up awaiting adoption at the shelter when the novelty wears off. Consider fostering or adopting a new friend!
