Revival Run 5K Grows in Second Year

In its second year, the Revival Run 5K saw nearly double the number of registrations it had in 2022.

The community-oriented fundraiser for Shoulder 2 Shoulder Ministries had its sophomore event much like it had its first event: great weather and lots of people that turned out to enjoy a 5K walk or a fun run, or at the very least, came for the food and fun.

The crisp but sunny weather was a welcome change from the rainclouds we had almost the entire rest of the week, and the only obstacle for the event was the wind, which occasionally threatened to overturn the tents of the vendors in the parking lot of the Creek County Courthouse.

Vendors included numerous churches and organizations, many of which had games available and prizes to be won. A couple of food trucks were present, as were a set of inflatables adorning the east side of the courthouse complex.

Nick Williams, who coaches track at Sapulpa Public Schools, was the first one to cross the finish line with a time of 15:59. We were told by friends of Williams that he runs at least 9 miles each morning, and then runs again with the track athletes at school.

At around 11:00 AM they launched the fun-run, a mile-long run mostly for children, as well as some adults with strollers.

All participants received a finisher’s medal, a shirt, and a swag bag full of goodies from various vendors.

Overall, the event was a success, according to Shoulder 2 Shoulder’s Levi Bradley.

“I believe what is taking place is historic for Sapulpa as believers come together in unity to worship Jesus,” he said. “You don’t see this type of gathering in other cities.”

Organizers say they hope the event continues to grow for years to come and look forward to an even bigger turnout in 2024.
