Poetry Contest, movie night, and more happening at the Library this month

Tulsa Community College and Sapulpa Friends of the Library are offering the first Poetry Contest for high school students in Creek County. TCC and The Friends of the Library are jointly offering prizes. First Place will be $100, a first-place plaque, and a summer class from the TCC select summer course block. Second Place wins $75 and second place plaque, and Third Place wins $50 and third place plaque. Submissions will be accepted March 1-31, 2021. Judging will be between April 1-20, 2021. The winner will be announced on Facebook and in local media outlets.

Children’s Activities Storytime has returned! It is held at 11 a.m. every Tuesday in Frank Hall. Please RSVP.  Read Across America Week is March 1–6; there are many fun activities for the children. Come by and take a selfie with Dr. Suess characters Sally, Conrad, and their goldfish, Carlos K. Krinklebine. For more go to the Sapulpa Public Library Facebook page.

The free youth lunch program continues and no registration is required. It is available to children from ages 0-18 on the following days during the following hours: Tuesday: Noon – 6 p.m. Wednesday – Thursday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Movie Night is back! The movie this month is “The War With Grandpa,” and will be shown Tuesday, March 16. 

The online reading program for kids, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, is still available for ages birth to 7 years. To participate, parents should go to sapulpapubliclibrary.beanstack.org 

The following two fundraisers are being held by The Friends of the Library:

Baked Potato sale March 24th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take-away and delivery only. The advance tickets are $8.00 and ticket sales will end March 21st.

Rada Cutlery sale orders for the Rada Cutlery sale can be placed online and you can find out more by attending the Friends of the Library meeting on March 3rd.

The A.A.R.P. Tax Aide group has packets, while they last, at the upper-level circulation desk at the Sapulpa Public Library for their 2021 Free Tax Prep. You must have a packet to make an appointment.

  1. You may pick up an A.A.R.P. tax info packet during normal business hours. 
  2. Tax assistance is by appointment only.
  3. Follow the instructions inside your packet to make your appointment.
  4. If you have any questions, please call the number in your packet.
