Sapulpa (2-1) provided a sound beating to the Bartlesville Bruins (1-1) in a rolling 48-21 victory after a week of wins from both teams.
The game featured 10 touchdowns and was largely led by two-person powerhouse Dylan Wick and Te-Zohn Taft, the first of whom intercepted two passes, and blocked a field goal.
Taft was no slouch, leading the Chieftains to a strong 21-7 scoreboard by halftime. But there’s no doubt – these two were feeding off each other’s abilities, as Wick’s first interception is what helped Taft along to his second TD in the second quarter.
In an interview with Fox23, Sapulpa Coach Borgstadt gave Wick a lot of credit—all duly deserved. “Dylan was tremendous for us, tonight,” the coach said. “We watched a lot of film on them and our defense was ready to play tonight.”
Although the Bruins managed to get on the board before the end of the first half, Sapulpa broke the second half wide open with a hard three touchdowns in the third quarter, effectively putting the Bruins on the road to their first loss.
