Wanda Jean Hill of Sapulpa, passed away on July 30, 2019 surrounded by her family at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 82.
Wanda was born March 16, 1937 to Gertrude L. (Brown) and Riley John Sr. in Sapulpa. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1955 and then attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, KS. Wanda worked for several years as a receptionist for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. She was an active member of Duck Creek Ceremonial Ground near Hectorville, Oklahoma. Wanda loved to laugh and enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis. She was a big fan of OU football and OKC Thunder basketball. Wanda was strong-willed and quick-witted. She loved her family deeply and it showed in her actions. She was always willing to help and give of herself to her family. “Grandma Jean” rarely missed an opportunity to watch any of her grandchildren play ball, perform a concert, or dance in a recital.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Eunice; her father, Riley; her mother, Gertrude; her brother, Riley “Butch” John Jr., and her twin sister, Juanita Bowman.
She is survived by her three children, Rhonda Cassaday of Sapulpa, Ronald “Sonny” Hill of Glenpool, and Russell “Bunky” Hill of Sapulpa; eight grandchildren, Darby Cassaday, Ryan Hill, Cherie Nabozny, Mark Hill, Jayce Hill, Bradley Hill, Derek Hill, and Jaden Hill; one great-grandchild, Liv Nabozny; one sister, Jeniece Wolfe; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK. Interment to follow at South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa, OK. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.
