Vern Edmonson

Vern Allan Edmonson, 90, of Sapulpa passed from this life on Monday, October 14, 2019 in his home of 56 years. Vern was born to Peter and Bertha Delight (Fillman) Edmonson on December 9, 1928. They lived on Kickapoo Creek, near Midlothian, OK.
He graduated from Chandler High School in 1946. In 1950 he entered the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. November 25, 1950, he married Ouida June Phillips. They had 4 sons together.
Vern was an owner/operator for many years having up to 7 trucks on the road at one time. He was a fantastic mechanic and loved teaching the younger generation.
Vern and brother, C.A. went to C.A.’s farm for many years to feed horses, tend to tractor work and let their rat terriers roam wild. They built a pond among many other projects. Vern and his siblings remained very close throughout their lives. He made a difference in many people’s lives. He will be greatly missed.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and youngest son, Robert Vern Edmonson. Also, by his brothers, Thurman and Clarence Edmonson; sisters, Vila Belle Alexander, Louise Acord and Eileen Peterson.
He is survived by sons, Kenneth Edmonson and wife, Janet; David Edmonson and Pete Edmonson; grandchildren, Clay Edmonson and wife, Trisha, Katy Edmonson, Kory Tillery and husband, Brian, Josh Edmonson and wife, Lydia; twins, Joseph and Justin Edmonson; step-grandchildren, Jon Schwebach and wife, Miranda, Amber Gross and husband, Kody, Sam Edmonson and Kelsy Jones; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Smith Funeral Chapel, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK. Interment to follow at Chandler City Cemetery, Chandler, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southwest Baptist Church Youth Fund, 5304 S 33rd W Ave, Tulsa, OK 74107. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.
