Troy Leon Smith began his journey to Heaven on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.
Leon was born on January 28, 1943 in Magnolia, Miss. He came to Sapulpa in the fourth grade and attended Jefferson Elementary. He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1962. He and Louise Hager met in the 8th grade in Sapulpa Jr. High, went together through high school and married in January 1963. In January 2018 they celebrated 55 years of marriage still in love and best friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Sadie Smith; father and mother-in-law, Tom and Vivian Hager; son, Troy Leon Smith II; and grandson, Douglas Aaron Smith.
Leon is survived by his wife, Vivian Louise Hager Smith; son, Temple Smith; daughter, Trisha Smith; and daughter-in-law, Marjie Boone-Smith; grandchildren, Patti Smith, Sarah Taylor and Vivian Smith; and great- grandchildren, Aaron, Brian, Gracie and Pearl. He is also survived by sister, Kay McDonald and her husband, Bob; and sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Norman Asher.
Leon served as a firefighter for Sapulpa Fire Department for 26 years while running his business “Lum’s Diesel Service”. After retiring from Sapulpa Fire Department in 1991, he worked for Page Belcher Golf Course working on their golf carts. This led to a new job which he held for 15 years with EZ-Go Textron working as their fleet mechanic, traveling to golf courses and country clubs in the surrounding area. After retiring from EZ-Go he began his own business LLS Golf Cars, Inc. and continued to provide contract mechanic work.
Services and a celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, Sapulpa. All are invited to this celebration where food will be served, and stories will be told. Please join us to honor man we loved greatly.
