Suzanne Knowles went to be with the Lord February 27, 2021. She left this world holding hands with her son, Chad Knowles and the daughter she never had, Vickie Vogel. She leaves behind a son, Chad Knowles, his wife Sara, Grandsons, Jensen and Collin all of Richardson, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carol Knowles, sons, Joey and Chris Knowles, brother, Paul Morgan, parents, Barney and Sue Morgan.
Suzanne was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, August 1, 1940. She graduated from Nocona High School in 1958. She then attended Midwestern University. At this time in her life, she thought she was being called to do foreign missionary work. About this same time, she met Joe “Snuffy” Knowles at Glorieta Baptist Camp. They would meet again at Baptist Student State Convention and it became clear what God had intended for her was to start a life and ministry with Snuffy. They were called to pastor a small church in Dundee, TX. then Dumont and a few other churches where Suzanne would play the piano. Their path eventually led them to Sapulpa, OK., where Joe would become the pastor of First Baptist Church. Brother Joe and Suzanne would both have a huge impact on so many in the church and community. Although Joe was the pastor, Suzanne’s personality could not be missed. She never was a typical, traditional preacher’s wife. She was never judgmental, she was always teasing and laughing, but ever-loving of all that she came across. Her ministry carried on many years after Brother Joe passed. She would witness to many about her own loss and pain traveling to many churches speaking. She would also be the first to call on others who were to experience loss and tragedy and reassure them to keep the faith in the Lord.
Suzanne’s life will be celebrated Saturday, March 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Sapulpa at 11:00 AM. The viewing will be Friday, March 5, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa, 5 PM-7 PM
