Sonya Kaye (Nutter) Allen, 81, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2022, after an illness that began in August, 2022.  Kaye took her last breath on this earth that afternoon surrounded by family.  Kaye was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on the 8th of December, 1940, to Jesse and Corene (Gibson) Nutter.  The family later moved to Seminole, where Kaye grew up and attended school along with her sisters Sue Streater and Beth Davis, and her brother, Jimmy Nutter.

Kaye graduated from Seminole High School in 1958, then moved to Oklahoma City with her parents and worked at several different jobs before enrolling at Central State in Edmond.  While attending Central State, Kaye met her future husband, Jimmie Allen, at a Baptist Student Union event.

Kaye and Jimmie were married on August 13, 1959 and the couple moved to Kellyville, where Jimmie became a teacher.  In addition to helping Jimmie with many of his class sponsor duties and keeping score at ball games, Kaye helped with her daughter’s Camp Fire Girls group and the Methodist Youth Fellowship, all while working at the Creek County Water Department for thirty years.  In her younger days, Kaye loved handcrafts of many kinds including sewing, crochet, quilting and embroidery.  Kaye loved to cook large meals for family gatherings.  As she got older and was not able to cook as much, Kaye found a new way to feed people, by supporting her local food pantry.

A celebration of life for both of our parents, Jimmie and Kaye Allen, will be held on October 8 from 1-4 pm at the Jones IOOF Lodge at 13131 E Britton Road in Jones, OK.  We would love to share stories and memories with any and all that can join us.
