Ronald Dean Thompson went to be with His Lord on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 at Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by his wife and sons.
Ronald was born March 29, 1946 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Earnest and Martha Lee Thompson. He graduated from Daniel Webster High School in Tulsa and immediately joined the United States Army. He proudly served his country including a three-year tour in Germany on a missile site where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter badge. He was a member of the NATO Honor Guard.
Ronald met and married the love of his life, Trudy Duckett, on November 21, 1969. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on a cruise with their children shortly before their 50th anniversary in 2019.
Bro. Ronnie (as he was known) pastored the Pentecostal Mission Holiness Church in Sapulpa for 43 ½ years and had recently announced his retirement effective May 31st. He served faithfully many years as a member of the Tulsa Area Ministerial Alliance and Sapulpa Holiness Camp Board, and was devoted to the study of Biblical prophecy.
He was a compassionate family member, loving father and a totally enamored grandpa. His concern for others was very apparent and often applauded.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. He was an accomplished water skier and taught many friends and family the sport.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and his sister, Patricia Shute.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy, of the home; two sons, Jonathan Thompson and wife Starla, of Sapulpa; Joseph Thompson, and wife, Rhoda of Kellyville; and one granddaughter, Berkleigh Thompson of Sapulpa; one sister, Carol Hamaker of Claremore, OK, many nieces and nephews,
a faithful church family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Monday, May 10th, at 11 a.m. at the Kellyville Holiness Church with interment following in the Kellyville City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 – 5 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa.
