Ron McGee, 74, of Mounds, OK passed away at his home with family by his side on April 6, 2019. Ron was born in Miami, OK to Shelby and Helen (Craig) McGee-Durham on September 8, 1944. Ron graduated high school from Central High School in Tulsa, earned an undergraduate degree from University of Tulsa, and a Masters of Divinity from Oral Roberts University. Ron met Joy Carnagey and they married on June 4, 1965 in Tulsa, OK. Ron served in the US Coast Guard in the Alaska Region. He made his career in the insurance industry working as an independent insurance agent making many friends along the way. Ron was a lifelong learner always reading and learning during his time on earth.
Ron was a friend to many. He enjoyed counseling and helping people during his time at City of Faith as a counselor. He pastored Agape Fellowship a home based church. Ron enjoyed his time and the fellowship with the many people at Happy Acres Cowboy Church. He was especially fond of the fellowship during the men’s breakfast at the church. Ron was a devoted husband for 54 years. Ron cherished his time spent with his family.
He is preceded in death by his father Shelby. Ron is survived by his mother Helen McGee-Durham of Miami, wife, Joy of the home, a daughter Shellie Bynum and husband Gary of Beggs, OK, son Spencer Lord, Tulsa, OK , brothers Mike McGee and wife Jeanenne of Mounds, OK, Monty McGee and wife Tanya of Sapulpa, OK and a sister Marcia Tynon of Miami, OK, 2 grandchildren, Sam Bynum of Stillwater, OK and Sara Bynum of Waynoka, OK and his dog Buddy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Happy Acres Cowboy Church. Friends may visit the funeral home in Beggs on Wednesday, April 10 from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
