Robert Lee Mulligan

Robert was born on February 11, 1933 to Robert and Velma Mulligan, in Magnolia Mississippi, the family would later move to Oklahoma. Robert was the first born of seven children. He went to school and worked on the family farm before joining the Army on his 18th birthday. Robert served during the Korean War and was stationed in Turkey and Germany. Robert had a great love for aviation and worked as an aircraft mechanic in the military. 

Robert would later meet and marry Margaret Simpson in 1960. Together they had three children, Norma, David and John Mulligan. Robert owned his own plumbing business at one point and worked for several plumbing businesses during his career. While working full time Robert built his own home in Sapulpa, where he lived for 57 years. Robert was no stranger to hard work and was not discouraged if he had to accomplish things the hard way, which was a life lesson he learned growing up on his father’s farm. Robert was excellent at gardening and would maintain a large garden which sustained his family. 

Robert had a love for learning and would frequently pass his time by doing Algebra, learning the German Language, and playing the guitar and harmonica. Robert was attempting to learn Braille at age 91, as he knew his sight was failing. Robert loved to read and study his Bible, one of his favorite passages was Psalm 23. He was interested in science, especially physics and made several attempts to build a perpetual motion machine. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being with others. 

Robert Lee Melvin Mulligan passed away at age 92 on February 14, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee and Velma Mulligan, his wife Margaret Mulligan, his siblings, Phylis, Patsy, Eurline, and Robbie. He is survived by his brother Joe Mulligan and his wife, Mary as well as his sister, Dorothy Mulligan. His children Norma and her husband, David Allen. David Mulligan and his wife Dawn, and John Mulligan and his wife Kim. Grandchildren Rian Allen, K’Daya Hesser and her husband Andrew, Colton Mulligan and Sean Mulligan, and great-grandchildren Talen and Harper Johnson and Austin and Emmett Hesser.
