Prece W. “Dub” Denney was born December 15, 1937 in Waurika, Oklahoma to E.N. and Josephine (Parsons) Denney. He departed this life Friday, July 9, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Dub graduated from Waurika High School in 1956. He went on to attend college at Southwestern State University and graduated with honors from the Pharmacy School in 1960. After graduating from college he served in the U.S. Army reserves for 6 years.
Dub was united in marriage with Joanne Uptygraft in Oilton on August 5, 1962 and were just a few weeks shy of celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary.
As the first Registered Pharmacist for Cushing Hospital, Dub also sat up their first pharmacy. Bristow Residents will remember Dub as a long-time pharmacist at Kemp Drug along with Max Kemp and later at Super H Pharmacy where he was a part owner before his retirement.
Dub was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 51 year member of Lions where he served as president in 1977, Masons, Bristow Historical Society, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Dub and Joanne were Citizens of the Year for Bristow in 2006
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Cynthia Sandefur.
Dub is survived by his wife Joanne and sons Jeff of Los Angeles and Jason of Oklahoma City; one sister, Jane Both of Rowlett, Texas.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 16th at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bristow Methodist Church or Bristow Social Services.
