Phyllis Ann Douglas beloved wife, mother, and nana, 73, of Sapulpa OK passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
Phyllis was born September 22, 1944 in a chicken coop converted to the home of Oda and Fay Garrison. She always laughed when she told the story of how her child hood home was once a chicken house.
She grew up in Bixby, OK and attended school there with her siblings Betty and Bobby Garrison.
Soon after high school Phyllis met the love of her life Ronald “Butch” Douglas and they married on August 17, 1962. They honeymooned at our family’s favorite spot Green Leaf state park. Their union was blessed with three children, Richard Gene Douglas, Ronald Gene Douglas and Theresa Ann Knight.
Phyllis was a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary post number 36. She enjoyed the fellowship and being able to be a part of a community that gave so much to veterans. For years her and her family were a huge part of the legion and loved to participate in many activities including BINGO.
Bingo was an activity that she loved as well as her grandchildren loved doing with her. The dobbers and getting to yell out BINGO was of course the grandkids most favorite part.
Being a part of the legion, and playing bingo was just one of the many activities that she enjoyed doing with her family.
She is preceded in death by parents, Oda and Fay Garrison; husband, Ronald “Butch” Douglas; son, Ronald Gene Douglas; and sister Betty McMillen.
She is survived by son, Richard Douglas and wife, Tina Douglas; and daughter, Theresa Knight and husband, Brian Knight; grandchildren, Tiffine, Derek, Ashley, Blake, Courtney and Carson, Drew, Alexis, JT, Baylee, Jordan and Shelby; and great-grandchildren Kail, Kamee, Brycen, Kadan, Cambrie, Caisley, Bryleigh, Adleigh, Gatlynn, Lilly Zoey and Odin.
They all held a special place in her heart. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. Green leaf state park a 53-year tradition was something that she looked forward to every year. A tradition that will live on for years to come.
Phyllis touched so many lives. The way she loved. The way she laughed. The way she sang. She will be greatly missed by so many, but she will forever live on in our hearts. And things and all.
