Phillip Glen Nichols, 37, of Sapulpa, OK passed away on July 13, 2019 at Saint Francis Hospital. Phillip was born in Sapulpa on January 19, 1982. He was a member of the Sapulpa High School graduating class of 2000.
Phillip was always there to help and serve others. He enlisted in the Army and proudly served as a tank commander on M1 Abram tanks with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fort Hood, TX. He served 11 months in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn where he earned numerous commendation medals. He also served with the 1st Infantry division in Fort Riley, KS where he was a Master Fitness trainer for his company. He ended his Army career with the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he continued his service with the Oklahoma National Guard. He was an exceptional solider but very humble to not talk much about his awards while serving. He loved being an Army soldier and was proud to serve his country.
Phillip was a gifted athlete who excelled in marksmanship with multiple weapons, soccer, tennis and bowling, and he was an avid fisherman. He was also a gifted landscaper and was working toward starting his own lawn company. He was kind and generous, but he would talk a lot of trash when it came to FIFA soccer or bowling. It was always a competition and when the kids or his sisters would beat him, he always wanted that rematch! The things Phillip loved the most and made him beam with pride were his children. Jordyn, Kaiden, Mason, and River brought him so much joy, encouragement, and love.
Phillip had a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ that got him choked up when talking about it. It gives his family so much peace to know that God cared deeply for Phillip & God loves him and all of us with an unconditional and everlasting love. Phillip leaves us here on earth but he is giving the ultimate gift to others. He was a registered organ donor and through this tragedy he becomes a blessing for many others. Our family is so thankful that Phillip wanted to give those he didn’t know a second chance at life. He was a gracious giver even at the end. Phillip is now in heaven with his beloved mother, Linda. No doubt she greeted him with a big smile and the best mom hug ever!
Phillip is survived by his wife of 4 years Brandi Nichols of Sapulpa; his children Jordyn and Kaiden Nichols, Mason Gaither, and River Nichols; his step-sons Damien and Wyatt Kloeckler; his father, Glen Nichols of Sapulpa; his sisters Amy Nichols, of Sapulpa and Missy Matlock (husband Tim) of Jenks; nephew and nieces, Jackson Dalzell, and Camryn and Rylie Matlock. Phillip is preceded in death by his loving mother Linda Nichols of Sapulpa.
