Paul Clyde McCain “Butch” age 77 of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, passed away December 14, 2020 at his home. He was born September 14, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Paul Junior McCain and Bessie Newton (Scott) McCain. He attended Jefferson Elementary, Washington Junior High School and graduated from Sapulpa High School with the class of 1962. He received his Bachelor of Science and Industrial Education Degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1967.
As a teenager, he was baptized at the Sapulpa First Christian Church where he attended.
His many jobs included working at Benson Lumber Company, Liberty Glass, McDonnell Douglas, Byron Jackson, Bartlett Collins and American Airlines, retiring from American Airlines in 2007.
He served in the United States Army, training at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. In November 1967, he completed his training at the ordnance center-automotive repair.
He enjoyed working with the youth of Sapulpa and served as a wrestling coach, oversaw the softball fields concessions, was a member of the Sapulpa Key Club /Junior Chamber of Commerce “Jaycees”. Paul coached many youth wrestlers from 1972, was a president and a director of the World of Wrestling with friend, Jack Roller until his passing. In 2007, he was honored into the Tulsa National Hall of Fame by the wrestling foundation.
During an OU football game, you didn’t disturb him or you got a lecture. You also didn’t ask him for a simple solution to a problem, because by the time he gave you a very detailed explanation of how to fix it, you forgot what you had asked.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Thomas J. Warren Jr.
Paul is survived by his sister, Carolyn Warren of Kellyville, OK, niece Stacey Warren of Kellyville, OK, nephew Corbin Thomas Warren of Kansas, OK, great nephew Corbin Tyler Warren, wife Jayde, their son Cash Tyler Warren of Summer, TX. Aunt Phyllis Scott of Tulsa and many cousins.
Services will be Monday, December 21, 2020 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Smith’s Funeral Home, 1208 S. Main, Sapulpa, OK.
Family visitation will be Sunday, December 20th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home.
Burial to follow at South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
