Patricia Donett Lay
Passed from this life at the age of 64 on October 24th, 2023, at Hillcrest South in Tulsa after an extended illness. She was surrounded by loving family and a dear friend she considered her sister since the age of 4, Beth Riggle. She made her home in Sapulpa with her mom a great niece and 3 little dogs she loved very much. Donett was born in Sapulpa Oklahoma on August 16th, 1959, to Donald Eugene Housley and Patsy Ruth Beasley Housley. She attended several Schools during her childhood in Texas and Bristow, Oklahoma and graduated from Sapulpa High school class of 1977. During her high school years, she bowled with her daddy on several youth and parent leagues, and they took several trophies from Sahoma lanes. She married Jesse Dean Lay on December 24th, 1981, at the home of Rev Carl Waldrup Jesse’s uncle in Sand Springs Oklahoma.
To this union was born a son Jeremy Dean and a daughter Lacey Dawn. Donett worked the line at Kwikset in Bristow for several years. After its closing she went to work for Loves Travel Plaza and became a fuel desk supervisor for Flying j travel plaza in several stores across Oklahoma. She was offered a position in one of the largest stores in Arizona but turned it down to stay in Oklahoma. Donett loved to bowl and was frequently seen in different leagues, mostly at Sahoma Lanes in Sapulpa. She bowled until her health slowed her down. She also loved bingo and casino hopping. Especially with her daughter and best friend Beth. She was a member of American legion chapter 36 Sapulpa and called games there for several years. People would often beg her to come back and call for them but the smoke there compromised her breathing. Our family has game nights, and you could depend on Donett being there. They always had her keeping score: the girl had a way with numbers, she did not even need a calculator she could figure in her head. She loved her fur babies, Raven, Riley, Rosie, she never came home from shopping without a bag of beef jerky, and we are not talking dog jerky, no we are talking that expensive people jerky. The 3 of them were always waiting at the door for her. She knew Jesus as her personal savior from an early age. She could be heard praying in the hospital thanking him for her many blessings rather than asking for relief of her pain and suffering.
She is survived by her stepmother who she always called mom Sandy Housley. Son Jeremy Dean of Tulsa, Daughter Lacey Dawn and Sam Locust of Okay.
