Orville Rex Cook, Jr

On Thursday, July 18, 2019, Orville Rex Cook, Jr. left this world to be with his Lord and Savior. Sadly, Rex experienced complications due to a fall at his residence in Kiefer, Oklahoma. He passed away several days after surgery, at St. John’s Hospital.
Rex was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 30, 1941 to Orville and Jo Cook. He was raised in the Kiefer area with his siblings Rita, Ruthie, Beckie, and cousin Pat. He spent his childhood attending Kiefer School and was a Kiefer High School graduate in 1959. Soon after graduation, Rex left for Lackland Airforce Base, which was the beginning of an eight year career in the United States Airforce. Thailand, Germany, and Tripoli were just a few of the places that he journeyed, while the Cook family awaited his return from the Vietnam War.
On November 5, 1971, Rex married the love of his life, Valerie Lynn Frost. Valerie soon became a constant companion and comrade of many, amazing adventures. Some of their adventures included drag boating, riding motorcycles, bass boat fishing, four wheeling, and traveling in their motor home. Furthermore, Rex and Val could always be found at ballgames cheering for their children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Rex was an employee for American Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. Later, he worked alongside family members as an oil producer and operated Circle “C” Oilfield Supply Co. In more recent years, he was a bus mechanic for Jenks Public Schools. Rex was also an elder at The First Christian Church of Kiefer, a thirty-second degree Mason, then became an Akdar Shriner. He loved politics and was very proud to be an American Veteran.
Rex will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Valerie, and their precious children and grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Orville Rex III, and daughter, Regina. Rex will be affectionately remembered by his grandchildren, Cory, Derek (Sheila), Ellie, MacKenzie, Alicyn, Cheyenne, and Mia. “Papa Rex” also has three great-grandchildren, Mya, Marianna and Olive . His sisters and brothers-in-law; Rita and Leon, Ruthie and Lense, and Robert Littlefield will carry his memory deeply in their hearts. Additionally, Rex will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Rex’s life will be on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family at the First Baptist Church, 200 S. Elm in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. There will be no viewing or graveside service. Aubrey Roberts will be officiating the service. Honorary Pall Bearers are Gordon Cook, Domenic Romeo, Lense Ramey III, David Shelton, and Brad Ramey. Other arrangements or questions can be answered by Green Hill Funeral Home of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
The Cook family would like to express their extreme gratitude for the outreach and condolences during this sad time. “Our hearts are forever blessed by the graciousness of our family and community.”
