Myron Ernest Hurst, 51 years, 10 months and 19 days, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at home after a long courageous bout with Stage IV Colon Cancer. Myron remained extremely positive during these past 5 years. People would often say, “we came to cheer you up and you actually cheered us up!” Myron tried to keep his days normal and be an inspiration to all. He said from the very beginning “this is in God’s Hands and I’m at peace”. Myron was born on January 10, 1969 in Spencer, Iowa to Jerald Lee Hurst and Dorothy June Hurst. The family moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1974 where Myron attended Pleasant View School. They then moved to Bristow, Oklahoma where Myron attended a private church school before moving to Bristow Public Schools in the 8th grade. Myron graduated as a proud Pirate with the Class of 1987. (For years we’ve all heard the stories of the winning State Champion game…his coaches and team meant everything to him!) After graduating Myron attended the University of Tulsa on a full football scholarship. He left TU to play for NWOSU. In 1990 Myron graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics where he gained his A&P license. After graduation Myron married his high school sweetheart, Melinda, on June 29, 1990. In 1995 Myron decided to go to Pharmacy School at SWOSU in Weatherford, OK. He graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2000. Myron started his pharmacy career at Walgreens before moving to Drug Warehouse where he was the Pharmacy Manager. When Drug Warehouse sold he moved to CVS before joining his dear friend, Jared, at Bennett’s Route 66 Pharmacy in Claremore. While in Weatherford Myron also earned his black belt in Goju-Ryu. Myron’s hobbies included golf, where he did master a hole in one during a tournament in Bixby. He also enjoyed cooking, family road trips, many class reunions, sitting and visiting with old friends, reminiscing about the good old days and making new memories. He enjoyed going to the OU football games but enjoyed watching his nephew, Ira, play football for the Bristow Purple Pirates even more. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and his last hobby of being a Volunteer Coach for the Kellyville Ponies 2017-2018 Football team. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Melinda Hurst of the Jenks home; his wonderful mother-in-law, Judy Hill of Jenks, his Mother, June Hurst of Bristow; one brother Kimber Hurst of Bristow and his children daughter Chelsey Eiseman and her son, Sean Smith and daughter, Jaylen Eiseman of Edmond, and his son Ira Hurst of Kansas; one sister Sharna McGuire and husband Henry and their son Trevor of Bristow. Myron was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Jerald, his precious nephew Sean Hurst and his favorite Aunt Margaret Hasty. Although his life was cut way to short – he always blessed us, pushed us to be better and to achieve our dreams, he motivated us and provided for us. Myron was a loving and selfless husband, son, uncle and friend. Funeral services were entrusted to Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. A private service will be held at Little Cemetery near Seminole, Oklahoma.
