Michael Wayne Newton, Sr. was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on August 19, 1946 to David and Joy Newton. He passed away January 10, 2021 at the age of 74. As a young man, Mike served his country in the United States Army. He served two tours of duty in combat, during the Vietnam War. After Vietnam, he spent another three-year tour in Germany before completing his last tour in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Michael was honorably discharged after more than 15 years of service and then he returned home to Sapulpa to begin a civilian life. One of the things he was most proud of was his opportunity to service his country. There were several things that Mike really enjoyed. He loved being surrounded by his animals, 3 dogs and 7 cats, and they loved him. He enjoyed camping at the lake in his RV, working with jewelry and making jewelry. His real passion however, was flea markets. He just couldn’t pass one up. He and his son Mike, Jr. could often be found looking around trying to find an underpriced treasure. Mike is survived by his son Michael Wayne Newton, Jr. as well as extended family and friends.
