Mary Sue Trotter, 90, of Sapulpa passed from this life peacefully on November 26,2021 in Tulsa, OK.
Mary was born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on April 9, 1931 to William and Sharada Price. It was in Sallisaw that she met Bobby Dunn. The young couple married in 1951 and were blessed with three sons. The unexpected loss of Bobby left Mary a young widow to raise their sons on her own. To be closer to the support of her family, Mary moved to Sapulpa and from that time forward Sapulpa was home.
She opened Dunn-Rite beauty shop, which she operated for more than 30 years. Later in life, Mary found companionship with Don Trotter of Sapulpa. The couple married in 2008 and enjoyed 9 happy years together.
Mary was the third child in a very large family. Early in her life she assumed many household responsibilities. These early life experiences provided Mary with a resilience, strength and work ethic that would sustain her through life, especially during challenging times. She also stood strongly upon her faith in God and the values of her Christian faith. Throughout her life, Mary assisted those in need, and took special interest in serving others.
A self-taught seamstress, Mary quilted, sewed, and crocheted for family members and friends. Many grandchildren and loved ones were gifted original quilts, dolls, and pillows on special occasions. Mary also enjoyed making candies, canning and gardening. Until her eyesight failed, she read her Bible daily and attended Community Freewill Baptist Church as often as her health would allow.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Bobby Dunn and Don Trotter, sons Robert Dunn and Charles Dunn and daughter-in-law Pam Dunn. She is survived by son, Dale Dunn and wife Susan, daughter-in-law Pat Dunn, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren one great great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
In recent years, Mary struggled with advancing dementia, but continued to make friends and enjoy her life with spirit and purpose.
