Martha “Peggy” Givens

Peggy Givens passed away at her residence in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 8, 2018 following a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband, son and close family.

Martha (Peggy) Margaret Martin was born in Gainesville, Florida to Dynva Elizabeth (Miller) Martin and Dr. William Berriene Martin, DVM on August 3, 1954. Peggy graduated from Gainesville High School in 1972 and spent several semesters at Santa Fe College in Gainesville. Peggy moved to Key West, Florida where she lived and worked before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1982. Peggy became a Christian in 1982 and decided to move to Tulsa to attend Rhema Bible College for two years where she took classes in the Helps ministry. After graduation and while on vacation she met and then later married David M. Givens on December 12, 1984. The greatest moment in their lives is when Peggy gave birth to their son Jonathan David, July 25, 1987. Peggy always had an entrepreneurial spirit and she was a loving and devoted mother, this helped her to launch Miss Peggy’s Daycare in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Her daycare was open from 1995 to 2006. As Jonathan became older Peggy turned her attention outside the home where within a few months she became the owner and operator of Staging Tulsa. She worked with homeowners and real estate agents in preparing houses to be put on the market for sell. Beginning in 2007, the business was one of the first of it’s kind in the Tulsa area. Peers, along with clients loved her ability to transform their homes into a beautiful and inviting place. She later sold the business due to her illness. Peggy loved working as an adult leader at Church on the Move’s 180 Youth Outreach when it was located just off Garnett. She helped there from 1999 to 2003. Peggy was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma December 2010. When Peggy wasn’t feeling her best, she and David would watch HGTV and the Cooking Channel. She enjoyed remodeling her home and cooking. She was quite the chef, while, David tackled the manual tasks and was her taste tester.
