Lucille Hughes of Sapulpa, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023, at the age of 97. Lucille was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on July 24, 1926 and lived in Sapulpa all her life. Lucille was preceded in death by W.L. Les Hughes of Sapulpa, her husband of 56 years. She is survived by her son, Thomas L. Hughes of Sapulpa.
Lucille graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1944 and went to work at Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, where she met her husband Les, and worked on the Douglas A-26 Invader during World War II. She then went to work as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone for several years before starting a family.
Lucille and Les were members of the First Christian Church of Sapulpa and the Builder’s Sunday School Class. The couple liked to travel and rekindled their love of dancing later in life. They enjoyed big band music, and especially Bob Wills Texas Swing music. They were able to enjoy dancing 2 or 3 times a week for several years.
Lucille had several small toy poodles over the years that were her fur babies. Her last baby was with her for 18 years.

Funeral Services are scheduled at 10 am on Thursday, September 7, 2023 with interment in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4-6 pm on Wednesday at Green Hill Funeral Home. Services are in the care of Green Hill Funeral Home.
