Born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma April 1, 1940, moved to Heaven November 26, 2020. Loretta lived her life like it was one big holiday starting with her birth on April Fools Day and her departure to Heaven on Thanksgiving Day. Mom was a blonde haired beauty with a smile that matched her spirit and love for life. She was raised on the Farley family farm in Kellyville with siblings she adored, brothers Reverend Leon Farley and Don Farley, and sister Connie Farley-Baker. Her Mom and Dad, Hubert and Geretta Farley, had their hands full, but made sure their children were raised in a good Christian home. They all loved the Lord and were faithful members of the Kellyville Holiness Church.
Loretta married Clarence Boyd when he returned home from military service in the Army. Only 15 years old, Mom was ready to start down her own path with the love of her life. Dad’s amazing piano playing abilities certainly may have had something to do with it. They moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma and one year later, their first child, son Dewayne Boyd arrived.
Loretta was always full of energy and wore a smile as no one else could…it lit up her whole face. She was a hard worker and a giving and caring lady. Mom served as a nurse at Bartlett Memorial Hospital (now St. John’s). It was during her time as a nurse at Bartlett that second child, daughter Patty Boyd-Yocham was born. Mom left Bartlett to go to work for Dr. Walter Cale in the Burnett-Cale Clinic in Sapulpa. After 11 years of serving the Sapulpa community as a nurse, Mom found a job that fit her perfectly, she accepted the position of jewelry department manager for Clarke’s Good Clothes at Utica Square in Tulsa. Those of you who know Mom and how much she loved her bling, will agree this was one of the smartest hires the store probably ever made, since most of Mom’s paycheck went right back to the store. She loved looking pretty and was very good at it.
The family grew again when Mom married Bob Meeks who had two daughters Patricia and Angie. Together they operated a NAPA Auto Parts store in Jenks. Their blended family enlarged with the arrival of son, Robert (Robbie) Meeks. After several years in Jenks, they relocated to Van Buren, Arkansas. Mom enjoyed driving and drove a Van Buren school bus until her retirement.
Mom loved to sing and play piano; she loved playing basketball and even played in a women’s basketball league. She was a joy to everyone who knew her. After her husband Bob passed, Mom moved back to the Sapulpa area to be closer to family. As her health declined, she was no longer able to live on her own, and needed full time medical care. She spent her last years as a resident in the Arbor Village assisted living unit in Sapulpa. The staff there treated her with love, respect and kindness…like family. So much so that Mom called it home. Our family will always be grateful for the care Mom received from the staff there.
Loretta was preceded in death by parents Hubert and Geretta Farley; brother and sister-in-law Reverend Leon and Helen Farley; first husband Clarence Boyd; and second husband Bob Meeks.
She is survived by son Dewayne Boyd and wife Debby; daughter Patty Boyd-Yocham; son Robert Meeks and wife Amber; daughter Angie Fyfe and husband Bill; daughter Patricia Burney; brother Don Farley and wife Sandy; sister Connie Baker and husband Reverend Ronnie Baker; grandchildren Brandon Boyd and wife Jodi; Cory Johnson and wife Whitney; Michelle Sargent; Chris Meeks and wife Andrea, Kameron Meeks, Clayton Meeks, Isabella Meeks, America Meeks, Brandon Meeks, Montana Meeks, Gracie Tuck, Kavin Tuck, Breanna Tuck, Carl Tuck, Ashlyn Tuck and Taylor Rogers; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and hundreds of great cousins. Traditions Funeral Home in Kellyville is handling services and honoring Mom’ request to be cremated. Due to the Corona virus, and our family’s desire to keep everyone safe, no service is planned at this time. However, a memorial service to honor and celebrate Mom’s life is planned to be held on her next birthday, April 1, 2021. Notices will be posted on family member’s social media sites once details are finalized.
