Lillian Marie Martin, 90, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma passed away on Jan 19, 2021. Lillian was born on January 17, 1931 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Robert and Oda Irvin. As a child she and her siblings worked alongside their parents as migrant orchard workers in Washington and Oregon. They settled at Gypsy and finally Bristow, Oklahoma.
Lillian married John Martin January 1949. They raised two sons at Depew before moving to Bristow. Lillian was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She held several offices in the Eastern Star chapters of Depew and later Bristow. Lillian worked a few years at Wal-Mart at Bristow and about 4 years at Gossard garment factory also in Bristow.
Lillian loved to crochet, her favorite home hobby. She made many items with a group of women at Bristow United Methodist Church where she was a member. At church she learned to knit, making prayer shawls for members with serious health conditions. Due to limited vision Lillian had to quit doing crochet but continued knitting since she could see the larger yarn. Lillian enjoyed growing rose bushes, flowering shrubs, and trees in her yard. She had one tomato plant each year that made many of the tomatoes she ate during the summer. Lillian had many friends in the Bristow and Depew area. She always enjoyed visiting on the phone with longtime friends and family. She enjoyed watching many sports on TV and was good at
predicting who was going to win. Lillian moved to Hickory Crossing Senior Housing facility at Sapulpa in 2018. She made new friends her age and enjoyed their company going shopping and out to eat.
