Larry Dale Wood
Larry Dale Wood was born November 10, 1956 to Donald Gee and Bonnie Lou Wood in Raisin City, California. He departed this life December 26, 2020 at the age of 64.
Larry spent all his younger years in California. He pastored the Free Holiness Church at Riverbank, California for over 5 years before moving to Oklahoma to accept the Pastorate of the Gypsy Holiness Church. He diligently did God’s work during the last 34 years. He loved people and enjoyed sharing the gospel with the entire creek county community.
On March 21, 1975 Janice Anderson and Larry Wood united in marriage. From this union were born three sons, Nathan, Adrian and Kevin. He served on the Sapulpa Holiness camp meeting board for many years as well enjoyed putting the cassette recordings of past camp meetings together for distribution; yard work was considered therapy and spending time with his family brought perspective to his calling. He was extremely proud of his holiness heritage, and his large family. He would want you to know he was the third of thirteen, and on December 26th he was the third of thirteen to make it to the “Wood” family reunion in heaven. Larry loved cars, from a hot wheel, to seeing our church young people’s first vehicles, or getting his picture taken beside a cool “hot rod” at a restaurant in town. He took his role as a servant of God very serious. His faith never took a day off. Life was never about him, it was about serving the Lord and serving others.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; three sons, Nathan Wood and wife Larissa, Adrian Wood and wife Jennifer, Kevin Wood and wife Rachel; ten siblings, Donnie Wood of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Louis Wood of Caruthers, California, Jeanne Gonzales of Atwater, California, Rick Wood of Caruthers, California, Marilyn Wood of Fresno, California, Jerry Wood of Caruthers, California, Denver Wood of Raisin City, California, Fred Wood of Riverbank, California, Rebekah Stephens of Palermo, California and Jonathan Wood of Fresno, California; nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Sydney, Nicholas, Easton, Carson, Chasen, Hannah, Brynn and one on the way, Britain. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ramona Cervantes and one brother, Raymond Wood.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Gypsy Holiness Church with interment to follow at the Oakdale cemetery in Depew, Oklahoma. Services are 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 30th; however, the church should only be at 50% capacity per Governor’s state guidelines.
