Our beloved Sister in Christ went to the arms of the Lord on June 28, 2019. Lannie Pauline Bigpond was born on June 11, 1944 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Lilly Simms Bigpond and Roy Bigpond. She attended Mounds schools and was active in basketball and very good at it. After graduating from Mounds High School, she attended Bacone College and graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. After graduating from college, she began work as an RN in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the Indian Health Services and then transferred to Phoenix, Arizona to continue to work for IHS. While working she furthered her education in the nursing field. Later, she moved back to Oklahoma to care for her mother and continued her nursing career at Okemah Indian Hospital and Claremore Indian Hospital before retiring in 1997.
Pauline was a very loving and caring person. As a young girl, she sang in the Simms family choir and as an adult she was a member of Morning Star Evangelistic Center. She helped family and friends in any way she could. She cared for those in the hospital and would often visit them. Pauline always tried to buy and give gifts to all of her family and friends. She hated to leave anyone out. She also loved her animals and would do anything for them. Pauline enjoyed working in her flower garden, sitting on the porch observing nature, and driving to town to meet with her friends.
Pauline is preceded in death by her mother, Lilly, father Roy and three brothers; Gregory Gene, Timothy, and Roy Jr., grandparents Maxie and Sawena Simms and Albert and Nelly Bigpond, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her brother Negiel and wife Jan of Hectorville, her aunt Madja Simms of Sapulpa, her Uncle Joe Watashe of Sapulpa, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pauline had a heart of gold and she loved all of her family unconditionally. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends, but they are comforted in knowing that she is healed and rejoicing with loved ones in Heaven.
