Katrina Petty

On a brisk Fall day, Oct 3, 1964, Katrina made her existence known to the world. She was the fifth child born to James and Beulah Petty. Soon after birth, even then Katrina made it evident that she was to be unstoppable. She had a very strong will and was always determined to do things “her way”. She remained true to her roots- even though as a young adult she tried moving away and lived in Haskell briefly.

She ultimately returned to Sapulpa where she lived out the remainder of her life. She attended Sapulpa schools; Jefferson Elementary, then Sapulpa Jr and High Schools. Katrina was definitely a warrior with a kind spirit. Even though she may quarrel, the differences would soon be settled and even topped off with a home cooked meal. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Events in her life helped her in her decision as an adult to be baptized. She joined Calvary Baptist Church and she often attended Philadelphia Seven Day Adventist Church with her children and grandchildren. Even though health issues affected her mobility, she was still unstoppable. She could be seen most anywhere in her scooter.

Katrina was the mother of 3 sons, Jackie, Kendrick, and Neely. At a young age Neely Petty preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by both parents, James Petty and Beulah Smittick; and also Stepfather John Smittick. She leaves to honor her earthly existence and embrace her memory 2 sons; Jackie Roberson (Nikki) of Tulsa, OK; Kendrick Petty (Crystal) of Arkansas; siblings Tracy Anderson of OKC, Tijwana (Faye) Petty of Texas, Theronda Petty of Sapulpa, James (Cartez) Petty of Tulsa, and Travell Smittick of Kansas, along with her grandchildren and a host of other family members, relatives and friends.
