Jimmie Leon Fabors, 81, of Van Buren, Arkansas, a husband, father, & grandfather, returned to his heavenly home on December 23rd, 2018.
Jimmie was born July 3rd, 1937 in Sapulpa, OK and was the only child of Earnest and Beatrice Fabors of Kiefer, OK. Jimmie married the love of his life, Dovie Fleming, on October 23, 1964 & is survived by his two sons, DeWayne Fabors of Van Buren, AR & Shawn (Brenda) Fabors of Plano, TX; and his two grandchildren Tori (Bobby) Cates of Bebe, AR & Jimmie Fabors of Van Buren, AR and Buttercup his faithful dog.
Jimmie enjoyed spending his spare time fishing with his two boys & grandson, or simply spending time with his family. As a young father, weekends were always family time gathered in front of the television for the weekly edition of The Walton’s and/or Little House on the Prairie.
Jimmie, followed in his father’s footsteps and worked at Barlett-Collins Glass Company in Sapulpa, for 30 years. This blue-collar job came with some challenges, however. He routinely worked 12-hour days with regular shift changes that included the graveyard shift. Despite the job demands, Jimmie always provided for the family, and they were never short of love. Very few people knew of his artistic ability. At times, the designs on the glassware produced were hand painted by Jimmie.
Jimmie & Dovie moved to Fort Smith, AR in 1999 to be near their son DeWayne & grandchildren. While in AR he did work part-time, working the morning shift making biscuits at a local Hardee’s store. Jimmie’s biscuits were always delicious despite their different shapes and sizes. Jimmie lived independently with Dovie for the past 3 years at Hopes Creek, where they were always surrounded by newly found friends.
His last day on earth, he was surrounded by family & had an exceptional day filled with laughter. Ultimately, he chose to spend Christmas with his wife of 52 years, Dovie Fabors, who recently passed September 23rd, 2018. He will be dearly missed but we can all take solace in knowing he did not want his wife Dovie spending Christmas alone.
Funeral Services are scheduled at 11:00 AM Monday, December 31st, 2018 with family & friends saying a few brief words commemorating his life.
